Most of the Townsville Bushwalking Club walks are not on formed tracks.
We walk the following types of terrain:
Boulder hopping in creeks on the eastern side of the ranges north and south of Townsville. These are often in the shade of rainforest and are the club's most frequent type of walk.
Some hand over hand climbing to skirt waterfalls and gorges.
Cross country walking (not on tracks) in the open forest country west of Paluma around Star River/Running River.
On formed tracks in Paluma National Park.
Climbing some of the surrounding peaks.
One-day walks are held on Sundays and the Club organises some weekend walks. There are occasional 3 to 5 day walks held throughout the year as well. One-day walks are usually within one hour's drive from Townsville, but overnight walks can be a longer distance away.
